Tips for Answering

• Read every answer choice. This may seem like obvious advice, but on the day of the test it’s easy to see an option that looks pretty good, choose it, and move along to the next question without checking to make sure there isn’t a better option. ETS will try to make some answer choices sound like the right answer, when they’re actually not. Reading through all your options will help you avoid getting fooled.

• Take notes while listening to the audio recording (how to do this is discussed in more detail below). Make them short and clear so you can easily review them when answering questions. They’ll often help you remember points you may have forgotten and that will help you answer questions correctly.

Multiple-Answer Questions

These questions are like the standard multiple-choice questions except they can have more than one correct answer. You’ll need to get all the answer options correct in order to receive credit for these questions.

• Questions with more than one answer will also be labeled as such, and you’ll also be told how many correct answers there are, so be sure to pay close attention when answering these questions so you don’t miss important information.

TOEFL LISTENING TIPS FOR STUDYING

Now that you are up-to-date on what to expect on the TOEFL Listening test, read these four tips and follow them throughout your studying in order to be prepared on test day.

Listen to Spoken English Regularly

The number one TOEFL Listening tip is, unsurprisingly, to listen to English regularly. The more you hear English, the better your listening skills will become and the easier you’ll find the Listening section. You want to listen to spokenEnglish, so music sung in English won’t be as useful since English sounds different when it’s sung compared to when it’s spoken.

Talk radio, news stations, movies, tv shows, and podcasts are all great options (as long as they’re in English, obviously). Try to listen to some English with background noise, such as an interview conducted outside or in front of a large crowd. TOEFL Listening recordings purposely include background noises, so you’ll want to be used to that.

Listen to Different English Accents

It will also help you down the line if you practice listening to different accents while you’re studying. The TOEFL Listening test will include at least one native-speaker English accent outside of North American accents. This is done to help prepare you for the variety of English accents you’ll likely come across in the real world. These accents will come from the U.K., Australia, or New Zealand.

Even native English speakers can struggle to understand different English accents, so be sure to get some exposure to different accents before exam day. Try listening to news clips or radio stations from these countries if you’re wondering how you can hear more accents.

Take Complete Practice TOEFL Listening Tests

Part of what makes TOEFL Listening tricky is that you spend the section going back and forth between listening to recordings and answering questions on them. After three or four recordings, you may get tired and your attention may start to lag. This can really hurt your score if you miss important information in the audio recording, so you want to take steps to avoid this, and one of the best ways to do that is to take complete practice Listening sections.

A full Listening section is four lectures and two conversations. Set aside time to take this section all at once, with no breaks and no distractions, just like on the real TOEFL. Doing this will help you become familiar with the length and pacing of the Listening section before test day.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

The Test Of English as a Foreign Language (or TOEFL, pronounced  "toe-full", or sometimes just "toffle" evaluates the potential success of an individual to use and understand Standard American English at a colleges and universities. Thats's why each year, hunderds of thousands of international students come to the US to pursue their academic studies. Because their English is nonnative language, these students are required to demonstrate competency in listening, grammar, reading, and writing by taking the TOEFL test. TOEFL score is valid for 2 years, and then is deleted from the official database.

There are 3 types of TOEFL, namely PBT (Paper Based Test), IBT (Internet Based Test), and CBT (Computer Based Test).

TOEFL IBT

IBT is the abbreviation for TOEFL Internet Based Test. So, the TOEFL IBT lasts approximately 4,5 hours. It examines your reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. Wishing can take this test on computer at test centre. The test constain speaking, listening and writing section. Speaking section is a recent innovation. It includes independent and integrated tasks. Students are allowed to take notes throughout the entire test.

In the listening section students are to answer question. The main task of them is to measure the understanding of attitude, degree of certainty, and purpose of spoken texts.

In the reading section students are to answer question to categorize information and fill in a chart or complete a summary.

In the writing section students are to type on computer. It also involves an integrated task in addition to independent tasks. Your grammar skills are tested on questions and tasks in each section.

TOEFL PBT

The PBT is a very different test from the IBT.  TOEFL PBT exam is administered via a paper and pencil format. It does not have the same four sections. Instead, there is reading, grammar/writing, listening, and a separate essay. The reading and listening sections as similar to the IBT, but not the same. For example, the listening recordings are shorter on the PBT. Meanwhile, the PBT grammar section is completely unlike anything on the IBT. The scoring is also different. Where as IBT is scored from 0 to 120, the PBT is scored from 310 to 677.

TOEFL CBT

TOEFL CBT is one type toefl that uses computers to perform toefl tests. in this CBT participants do not use paper anymore like the type of PBT (Paper Bases Test). In this type of CBT will use a software. Participants can work on toefl tests directly using a computer. The material used in CBT, namely listening, structure, reading and writing.

 

What is the Difference Between TOEFL IBT and TOEFL PBT?

 

As loyal readers know, the TOEFL iBT has four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. Reading and Listening are multiple choice. Speaking and Writing require production of language. Because the iBT is completely computer-based, test-takers will read from the screen, listen from their headset, record speech into a microphone, and type written responses on a keyboard.

The TOEFL PBT has four sections too. Like the iBT, the PBT has sections for Reading, Listening, and Writing. However, the PBT’s fourth section is “Structure and Written Expression,” not Speaking. The TOEFL PBT Structure and Written Expression section focuses on grammar. The skills tested in this section closely relate to the skills of proofreading, editing, and revising in English writing. However, the section doesn’t have any lengthy writing tasks. Instead, correct grammatical forms and proper revisions are selected by multiple choice.

Which Exam to Choose?

 

There are few things you should consider when choosing between the PBT and iBT.

There is also one more thing to consider when choosing between the PBT and iBT. You need to remember that the PBT is outdated. It doesn’t reflect the expectations of modern higher education. The iBT’s emphasis on speech instead of grammar is more in line with the kinds of English you’ll actually have to use once you begin your studies. So the iBT can probably better prepare you for your academic career, even at a school that accepts both versions of the test.

Which is Easier?

 

Many students ask this, but the answer is actually irrelevant. Usually, you will not have a choice. The PBT is given in areas where there is little internet access. If there is internet access, the iBT is used. It is very rare that you can choose between the tests.
Besides that, because the tests include different skills and different formats, they are hard to compare. If the speaking tasks of the iBT are scary for you, maybe the PBT would be easier. If the grammar questions of the PBT aren’t your strong area, maybe the iBT would be better. But in most of cases, your PBT and your iBT score would show the same thing: your general English level. If you score high on one, you can score high on the other, generally speaking. And again, you probably have no choice; you will have to take the test that’s available to you.

Catfish Becomes Major Commodities

BeritaPagi News, Jakarta – The government will make catfish as one of the main commodities that will be maximized for Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency. Coordinator of Minister for maritime Indroyo Susilo said that the election of catfish as the mainstay because catfish is a fish that contain lots of nutrients with cheap price.

“Even though Catfish is the cheapest, it has a lot of animal protein,” he said after a meeting at his office, Jakarta, Thursday (29/01/2015).

Moreover, Indroyono said that catfish has been well known even to the European continent. “We can sell to Europe,” he added. Besides catfish, he also would make other fisheries commodities such as shrimp, grouper, red snapper, tilapia and catfish as the main commodity.

He also said that the government has targeted Indonesian aquaculture production should reach 31.3 million tons. To achieve these targets, the government must meet a few things that could support aquaculture. For the cultivation needs 7 things that must be met, namely, location, seed, feed, medicine, technology and markets. (Amd / NRM)

Oleh sebab itu saya berfikir untuk membuka usaha ini, iya usaha Daur Ulang sampah yang sudah tidak digunakan seperti sampah pelastik kita dapat daur ulang menjadi barang-barang yang unik dan berguna seperti Tas, Dompet, Payung dan masih banyak kerajinan yang dapat kita hasilkan dari mendaur ulang sampah pelastik tersebut.
